Week Two Standings

With our second week of volleyball under our belts, we are all starting to get warmed up and play like we might know the rules to volleyball. This week was a proving week to see who was showing off the first week, and who just got plain lucky.

Shank You Very Much vs. Setsy and You Know It
Oh boy, what a start to the night. Shank You Very Much started off the game somewhat sheepish, then had a long run to put them ahead. Setsy and You Know it continued to make little mistakes and let Shank You Very Much take the first game from right under their outstretched arms. Between games, the great debate over what a blocked serve created some turmoil, but ultimately Greg was able to get some tricky quick punches back over the net allowing for a close second set as well. Despite Setsy and You Know It showing some of their volleyball prowess with some beautiful Bump, Set, Spike, Kill combos, it was not enough to win the second game. Shank You Very Much starts off the season strong with a 2-0 record, but the 1-1 record for Setsy and You Know it team does not seem to reflect their firepower.

Diesel Diggers vs. Showing Up
The second game was not quite as close. Diesel Diggers came out with a better understanding of how to play with each other, and they played a solid first set. Once Showing Up showed up, they turned up to show up the squad up against them, they up classed their opponents and in their first showing of the night, turned up with a win. Set 2 was ruled by Showing Up playing some fundamental volleyball, and ended the game with 11-25. Showing Up moves to 1-1 and the Diggers dug their way to the current bottom of the standings.

Lord Scorpion Viper vs. The Mahmoodies
This was the clear game of the night. The Mahmoodies came out strong with an impenetrable defense in the first game by JG, Jessica, and Livan taking a back and forth set with a 28-26 win. Lord Scorpion Viper did not go quietly though, they came out royally ticked off in the second set and slithered up to 25 points taking the second set with some key spikes by Joe and some incredible sets by Lily. The teams recovered and game planned before the late night third set as the final set of the night. Interim Captain Sid won the coin toss giving the Lords first serve, which Caleb used to go up early against the formidable Mahmoodies. After some back and forth, the game finished 15-5, and the Lord Scorpion Vipers move to 2-0, while the Mahmoodies feel their 0-2 record does not properly reflect the skill of their team.

An incredible week of volleyball, see you all next week!
