Good Afternoon Racquetballers!
Welcome to Bronze Week 3! This week saw some excellent racquetball and some shake-ups in the standings.
Kat v Christiana
Kicking off the night, we had Kat and Christiana step onto the court. The battle for first serve was close, but Kat won the lag shot and began to racq up the points. After several hard-fought exchanges of service, Kat had a healthy lead. But Christiana was not going to make it easy. Down by 12, she started her comeback, quickly getting back within reach of Kat's lead. Kat was motivated by the duties of City Manager and an impending evening meeting, however, and was able to reclaim the serve and score the final point, finishing the game 15-9. The second game played out similarly and also went to Kat. With the match win, she now sits at second in the league.
Maggie v Glo
If you were at AVTEC at all on Monday, you may have asked yourself, "Who is this woman?" and, "Has she been here all day?" The answer would be Glo and, yes, she has been here all day. In preparation for another Battle of the Kayak Guides on the Racquetball Court, Glo played no less than 3 matches against 2 other opponents in preparation for her ultimate match against Maggie. Her effort was well rewarded and she was able to take both games, though not without a fight. Maggie nearly beat out Glo in game 1 with some excellent serves and well-timed jokes. But Glo's return and resolve was stronger and she moves up in the standings.
Stephanie v Vanessa
Stephanie's first match in the Bronze league was a challenging match up against the undefeated Vanessa. Stephanie seemed to gain her footing in the second game and was able to take some points away, but not enough to take the game. We can't wait to see how she does against her other opponents in the coming weeks, as she continues to get more comfortable in the league! With the clean sweep, Vanessa moves into first place at the top of the Bronze league.
