Week One Standings

Welcome back to another exciting Fall Volleyball season that we have on our hands to bump, set, and spike our way into Winter. Week one was an exciting week despite most of us breaking off the rust from not playing volleyball all summer long…

Lord Scorpion Viper vs. Showing Up
The Lords came at this game with vengeance after a disappointing end to the last season. They were exciting to watch for much more than their chants this week, with some incredible net play by Emma and some strong spikes by Sid. Showing Up did exactly as advertised: Showed Up. It took them the first game to get a good rhythm, but once they started mentally Showing Up, they finished the second game strong with some tricky serves and incredible saves. It wasn’t quite enough to keep the Lord Scorpion Vipers from stinging their way to a Week 1 win.

Shank You Very Much vs. Diesel Diggers
Shank You Very Much is new to the league, but came to play today. They showed up and dealt with business with some great serves from Peter and some fundamental volleyball across the board. The seasoned vets from Diesel Diggers spent a lot of the night teaching their new, incredibly athletic, players how to play some good ole fashioned Diesel Diggers volleyball. The game wasn’t perfect, but Shank You Very was able to keep enough balls in play to take two commanding sets from the Diesel Diggers and start the season 1-0.

Setsy and You Know It vs. The Mahmoodies
Setsy and You Know It is a good team with some great players, but they had a worthy opponent in the Long-Time-Volley-Ballin Squad from the Mahmoodies. Setsy and You Know It came out swinging… literally. Sequoia and company had some long runs with tough serves and beautifully set up kills to take the first set. The Mahmoodies found some open space in the second set and were able to steal it 21-25, forcing a game 3. The third set was back and forth, but in the end it was Setsy and You Know It who was able to come out ahead 15-11 and take a week one win.

A great start to the season, see you all next Monday!
