Racquetballers!

The days keep growing shorter, but the racquetball games are growing longer and more intensive! Make sure to hydrate, stretch and give yourself a pat on the back before your weekly beating. Here’s a brief recap of the games that went down this past week during league night:

WEEK TWO

Russ v Benny

We had a meeting of the strings between two Seward Parks and Recreation employees: Deputy Director Benny Flores and Recreational Manager Russ White. Ay carambe! Despite Benny’s blistering forehand shot, Russ stayed on his toes and kept Benny on the move. Russ took the win in the first and second games, winning 15-4 and 15-4 respectively. Something tells me that Benny is just warming up for the league, so look out!

Ron v Wes

The court was a pleasant 85 degrees and no less by the time long-time rivals and friends Wes and Ron took to the space. Ron was still in his head after a poor performance in the first week, and Wes was ready to capitalize on it. Don’t tell Ron I said that, seriously! The game started off neck-and-neck. Wes was making shots accurately, but his opponent was quick on his feet for the return. After a hinder in the mid-points, Wes got in the service box and tore it up like a cowboy tears it up after a piping hot can of 10 year old baked beans. Wes won it 15-7. Ron stayed in it for the second game, but it wasn’t to be enough. Wes got him this time with a 4-point win, and looks forward to global racquetball dominance.
