There was only one 5:45pm game and it featured Spring Creek and ILWU on the upper field. Spring Creek propelled themselves to a big lead after a big first inning, passing by ILWU like the cruise shippers at the terminal. They never looked back after that cruising to a 12-5 victory, led by Glatt and his 3 RBI performance. Tommy recorded 3 RBIs of his own for ILWU, but with the loss they drop to 1-4 on the season. Spring Creek headed into their double-header with a head of steam.
In the second game the steam was quickly dampened by the agents of Seward Insurance. Stephanie's comprehensive plan at the plate had her knock in a pair of runs for the Insurers and they went onto a 11-3 victory. Daphne roped a triple and knocked in a run for Spring Creek as they ended the day even and stand at 3-2 overall now. Seward Insurance improves to 5-1.
Meanwhile on Lewi's Field the Hose Jockeys and Master Batters were locked in a battle like a fire fighter handling a a hose at a fiery inferno. Would the fire be put out, or would the flames win in the end? What seemed like a controlled fire turned into a blaze in the bottom of the fourth as the Master Batters erupted for nine runs as Emma ripped a two RBI single and JG recorded 3 RBIs for himself en route to a 15-4 win! Master Batters get off the snide and improve to 1-2-1 as the Hose Jockeys fall to 0-4.
Next up the Baby Franks tested out their first steps on the rocking boat of Major Marine. A well-balanced baby they were at first, yet their over-confidence had them forgetting the three points of contact rule as Major Marine rocked that Baby over in the bottom of the sixth, plating seven runs as they took the W with a 13-8 victory. Chris scored three runs in the win for Major Marine! But the highlight of the night came from the losing squad when Franks' batter Josh launched a three run shot over the left-center field fence in the top of the first. Major Marine rides a wave to 2-1-1, while the Baby Franks stumble to 2-3.
And finally the conclusion of the night came with the boisterous Soft Balls taking on the polished work of the Hammerheads! With dots, 7s and xs marking the book, it looked like kayak guides were handling hammers and contractors were paddling around the coast; so who knows what happened. But the final score was 13-7 Hammerheads as they continue their dominance in tune to a 5-0 record as the Soft Balls fall to 1-3.
Check out the standings below.
Cheers,
Russ
