Week 3 was a doozie, full of sunshine, laughter and close games throughout. Let's breakdown what went down.

The games kicked off at 5:45 on Ryan Lewis Field as our fire-fighting heroes took on our home-building heroes! It was the Hose Jockeys visiting the Hammerheads. Tyler put the Jockeys on the board first in the top of the first, but the Hammerheads scored a pair of their own in the bottom half to take the lead and never look back. Galen popped another home run and Darian scored three runs as the Hammerheads held the fire squad at bay with a 14-3 victory. The Hose Jockeys drop to 0-3 and the Hammerheads went in their double-header still undefeated.

Meanwhile on Jon Perry Field, the Baby Franks were slowly building a lead over Seward Insurance, led by a four-hit night from Cara. But it all fell apart in the 5th as both Jack and Raven scored twice in the inning as Seward Insurance scored 10 of their 11 runs in the 5th en route to an 11-8 win. Seward Insurance pushed their record to 4-1 and the Baby Franks were served their first loss of the season heading into a double-header.

Next up on the top field the Hammerheads were hosting the Baby Franks. Would the hammering slow down against the bat wielding toddlers or would they keep on hammering away? They were slowed for sure heading into the 5th down by a run, before tying it on a sac fly by Darian. They put the finishing touches on the Franks when Ed drove in John for the winning run in the 6th. Josh attempted to start a comeback for the Franks, but was thwarted as the Hammerheads won 6-5. The Hammerheads are now 4-0 and the Baby Franks drop to 2-2.

Master Batters journeyed their way to the lower field at 7:00 to take on the boat crew of Major Marine. The teams rocked back and forth amongst the waves of batting struggles, neither willing to sink the other into the throws of loser-hood. Hunter's wiley legs attempted to commandeer a victory for Master Batters in the top of the seventh with a ninth run, but Lilly blasted a cannon-fire single to stave off the loss and call a truce for the two teams with a 9-9 tie. The Master Batters have yet to taste victory, but they did not lose last night as they now sit at 0-2-1. Major Marine moved into their double header at 0-1-1.

Major Marine nearly found themselves in another tie during the 8:15pm game against ILWU. They erupted for seven runs in the first inning, but could muster only one through the next three innings. ILWU chipped away at the seven-run lead scoring four in the 2nd and four more in the fourth with Dalton knocking in a pair of runs. Heading into the bottom of the fifth at an 8-8 stalemate, Major Marine wanted to avoid another truce when Jack took matters into his own hand, hitting a three-run inside the park home run to send Major Marine sailing off into the middle of the night with an 11-8 victory; their first win of the season. ILWU drops to 1-3 with the heart-breaking loss.

Finally the Soft Balls came in, once again with their PFDs tightly strapped in case an errant foul ball found their chests or backs while day-dreaming off on the sidelines. Their opponents on the night were Spring Creek! Undefeated vs defeated meant nothing on this night as the Soft Balls finally broke their run scoring curse in the fifth as they put up four runs, followed by two more in the 6th as they downed Spring Creek 7-3. Dana did what she could to attempt a comeback for Spring Creek driving in a run in the seventh, but the Soft Balls stayed diligent with their defense and held on for the win. A four hit performance from the combination of Gavin, Forrest and Jack helped propel the Soft Balls to the win and they improve to 1-2. Spring Creek springs a leak as they fall to 2-1.
