On the lower field, Lewi's Field, the year began with the two best jerseys in the league facing off. Hose Jockeys were hoping their new fire engine red unis would carry them to victory, but ILWU saw that red and charged forth like a bull towards a downed matador. Led by a near cycle from lead-off hitter Allie, ILWU went on to a 20-2 victory.

Up on Jon Perry Field, the Hammerheads hosted the defending champions in Seward Insurance. Again, it was the lead-off hitter that hammered away in this game as Galen walloped a changeup over the center field fence to put the nail in th coffin for Seward Insurance and assure the Hammerheads an 18-6 win.

Game two on Lewi's Field featured a rematch of the championship from last season as ILWU visited Seward Insurance. Jamie of Seward Insurance had a four hit night as she insured her team would have the victory over ILWU; the final score: Seward Insurance 21 to 4 for ILWU.

Up on the upper field at 7:00pm, Spring Creek began their season against the Master Batters. After two innings of a pitchers duel, Spring Creek broke free from the grounds to a tune of a 13-5 victory with Darren leading the way sprinting around the bases twice.

The wicked witch of the west decided to enter the fold around 7:45 as winds and rain started shaking up the place just in time for the Soft Balls to welcome the Baby Franks to the party. Even their flotation devices couldn't keep the Soft Balls afloat as the Baby Franks wriggled out seven runs led by a pair of hits from Cara en route to a 7-1 win.
