WEEK THREE
This is the fastest write-up I have ever done. It is so fast that the plastic components of this space-ship like vehicle called the computer are blasting off like pieces of a space shuttle as it re-enters orbit. God bless the men and women who have served the country and explored the darkness that surrounds our beautiful planet. I would tremble if I found myself in that position.
Wes v Clay
The night was calm. The scent of flowers wafted through the hallway at AVTEC gym as individuals crafted custom bouquets for their loved ones, or just out of spite. In the grand scheme of things, these floral odors went undetected by Wes Shafer as he blasted by the front desk of Sports and Rec, calves shrouded by KT tape. He brandished a bag full of racquetball paraphernalia. His opponent, Clay Lambert, had just finished showing off a gift from his friend: a brand new custom jersey that reads “Racquetball Saved My Life - Seward, AK” with a skull crossed with racquets depicted on the back. If that’s how the man lives his life, well, I think that is truly beautiful.
Before long, the two competitors got into the court and did what they do best. Clay started off in the service box and wound up his arm up so hard that it almost fell right out of its socket. Luckily, he has trained his whole life for these moments and that thing was stuck in there. Boo yah! Wes was quick on his feet this evening, returning Clay’s serves and keeping the score even in the dawn of the match. As time progressed, Mr. “Clayzer” Lambert was locked into his rocketship of racquetball and kept a continuous flow of kill shots, passing shots, and that wind up thing he does with his arm. The lead widened, and he took the win at 15-5. Wes wasn’t pleased, Wes wasn’t happy, but he knew he still had a shot. These were but just two dancers in the dark. No one can predict what happens on this fluorescent dance floor. Show time boyz. Wes was determined to take this to a third game, and gained the advantage leading the game 7-3. Clay looked down at his shirt and got back to why he was here: to save himself from himself. He was on the ground floor where the rest of his life will take place. He thought forward into his 70’s and realized he would like to look back at that time he gave everything he had in his 30’s to beat Wes in this very moment. Points started to stack up in Clay’s favor, and he went off in a blaze. Next thing you knew, he was victorious, winning 15-7. This puts Clay Lambert ahead of Kirk DesErmia in the standings, which is going to be a match to look out for!
