WOWOWOW this past week of games was absolutely electric. I was actually jumping out of my seat at times and felt like a proud soccer mom! This league has been the highlight of my week for the past few months, and I’m going to miss it so much! But never fear, we still have playoffs and I would love it if everyone would come out to support whether you are playing or not!! Because of thanksgiving week, the games will actually be held two weeks from yesterday on Tuesday, December 1st. The top 4 players will battle it out in the following manner:
- # 1(Daphne) versus #4 (Lukas)
- #2 (Alissa) versus #3 (Mel)
- Winners play
- Losers play
Mel vs. Charity
Just in case anyone was wondering (and or cares) I know you all do), I am shaking with excitement as I write this. Mel and Charity started off the rounds of insanity and athleticism with a handful of sky high shots, registering more running to the front wall than either of us probably wanted. Anytime the serve changed possession and was in Charity's grasp, Mel knew that her backhanded serve to the left corner of the court was going to be a DIABOLICAL feature. Mel caught a rhythm to impress her honey in the stands, channeling the strength of every professional racquetball video she's ever watched (not like she's been doing that or anything why would you think that), to bring home a win of 15-6 both games. What a rush.
Alissa vs. Lukas
Good golly I think the games these two fought stand tall as some of the most fun I've had yet. As we all know by this point- Lukas has been eating, sleeping, and breathing racquetball these past few months since he got the bug, and boy has it been paying off. Preparing to go against the incomparable titan and league extraordinaire Alissa, the pair warmed up and then got right to it. This first game might go down in rec history as the longest, most preposterous, anxiety ridden nail biter we've ever seen. Back and forth the points stacked up, Lukas returning the most unreachable shots with the help of sturdy slidable pants, all while Alissa continued to lob balls to the corner an inch from the ground. After an immense amount of time, shock, and awe, they finally ended 19-17, Alissa sealing the deal. This continued in a second game, Lukas securing the win and guaranteeing a third and final game. In another wickedly close match, the final game ended 13-11, Alissa remaining the wild animal that she is.
Christiana vs. Daphne
Christiana and Daphne started their night by rooting on Lukas and Alissa due to the longevity of their escapades. Soon enough, it was their turn to cause a ruckus, and cause a ruckus they did. My words fail me every time I try to find a different way to phrase the lunacy that is Christiana’s rocket of a shot that leaves her opponent diving for the corner time and time again, but here I try. On the flip side, Daphne swings at the ball with the force of a thousand suns, and makes ambidextrous players around the world beam with pride. The two giggled, galloped and glided across the court, and before we knew it Daphne had closed the first game 15-5. Game two provided more heavily anticipated entertainment, and Daphne ended up securing her number 1 spot in the league.
