My pride and joys,

I cannot even begin to explain the RUSH that I felt having all of us in the same building at the same time playing the game we love. Thank you all for the fun, the laughter, and the competition! Here are the standings and write ups from this past week, bravo everyone!

Daphne vs. Mel

Daphne and Mel stepped into the thunder dome on a dark Tuesday night, and Mel knew she had a battle ahead of her. They squared off in a fit of giggles and dangerously fast racquet swings, and before they knew it Daphne had pulled out the win 15-12. Mel came back with a vengeance for game 2, and channeled her inner athlete to find a serve in the triangle of death that produced some whiffs and graceful laughter from Daphne. At the end of game 2, Mel pulled out a 15-5 lead, and the duo left the glass castle for one last break before the final game. With lungs on fire, the pair summoned all the strength they had left, and Daphne whopped Mel’s sore tail (literally she pulled her cheek) 11-2 for the W.

Lukas vs. Christiana

Let me tell you a little something about these two competitors- they bring the PASSION! Lukas has been noticed by SPRD staff as a constant and consistent racquetball soldier, practicing for hours a day and sliding around the court, around the clock. Christiana not only has an infectious laugh that lifts the weariest soul, but one of the most insane kill shots the rec league has ever seen (although she will humbly deny it). These two friendly demeanors put on their game faces and contended for the title of most-ferocious-and-also-most-kind-rec-racquetballer, Lukas of whom brought it home. The second game Christiana was withholding absolutely nothing. I thought that this little city of Seward was experiencing another earth quake, albeit it was just Christiana serving up a corner torpedo on a silver platter. The final score for game two was 15-11 favoring Lukas, but certainly not without a fight.

Charity vs. Alissa

Our last game of the night was pure class. I swear at one point Alissa and Charity both tried to give each other points that the score keeper with 20/10 vision (me) saw were clearly and admirably earned. Serve after serve, jaunt after jaunt, hit after hit, the smiles continued. In an odd coincidence, both games ended at a score of 15-4, favoring Alissa. Just moments after these games, Charity was unstoppable- back in the court against daring Nephew Lukas for more. As I later went back into the office, beaming with pride at our first full Tuesday night, a sight beheld me- Charity with blood gushing between her fingers held closely to her face. After a few fresh gauze pads, an ice pack, and some comradery, we found the cause- a smashed nose given to her by none other than her own opponent and friend- Lukas. You just cannot stop the love of the game from these two! Well done.
