Seward, say hello to Adam for today’s staff spotlight! Adam has been with Parks and Rec for a year and has stepped into the full time Teen Rec Room Program Aide role! We couldn’t think of a more fitting person than Adam to have in this role as his jovial spirit and easy-going nature wins over the hearts of all the kids and people he meets!
Before working in the sports and rec department, Adam worked for the National Forest trails crew. From that he’s brought not only a hard-work ethic, but a litany of hard skills from using chain-saws to secure firewood for teen room bonfires, to maintaining the infields of our softball fields to building various shelves and signs throughout our department.
Adam is the definition of a people’s person! His friends span all ages and backgrounds. His generosity is astounding! He seems to always be helping someone with some sort of project or personal problem. And you would never know if Adam is having a bad day himself. Even through the most difficult situations, Adam seems to see the positive side of life!
Adam’s greatest passion may be sailing. His permanent home is a sailboat that he plans to sail around the world with his partner. Often during his break he comes back with dirty hands from working on a motor, or some sort of boat project. Every available weather window Adam sets sail to Res Bay and beyond. How did he learn all his sailing, you may wonder? He did it all on his own.
His knowledge of water sports goes beyond the boat world too! Adam swam collegiately for Virginia Tech and is an avid swimmer. That skill had him going from the couch to third place in this past year’s Pink Cheeks Triathlon. If you meet Adam you may not know all of the hidden skills he possesses because he’s one of the humblest people you will meet. So we’d like to brag about our Parks and Rec employee and let Seward know how great Adam truly is! We’re certainly glad to have him on our team!
