Hello all,

A week of slinging dogs and hitting dingers has come and gone and your favorite sports league in all of Seward is the talk of the town today. I even heard whispers of the craned-neck, middle of the street standing, cruise shippers ask their friends, "Did you see those games last night?"

Well if you didn't see them, let me tell you a little of what went down!

The games began well-before Monday night when ILWU convinced that one hard-headed, swinging tool team that they needed to makeup their rain-cancelled game from the week prior. And let me tell you, the Hammerheads didn't exactly hit the head of the nail that night, as ILWU came away with a 20-6 victory to undo the tie and boost their league leading record to 4-0-2. And even though the loss dropped the Hammerheads to 1-2-1 on the season, the deep, reverberating laughs of Ed rang throughout the disc golf course, suggesting fun was still had.

Ok, on to Monday night!

To start things off at the lower field it was a rematch between those same two teams, Hammerheads and ILWU. It was a tightly contested game between the two this time. As things came down to the wire, the Hammerheads GM swung a deal with their upper field opponent of the next game, the Baby Franks, to acquire their second baseman Mo to serve as a reinforcement for the later innings. It wasn't quite enough though as ILWU prevailed again with a 6-4 win.

On the upper field, the Baby Franks took on the correctional officers and affiliates of Spring Creek. Spring Creek plated a pair of early runs in the top of the 1st on line-drive single off the bat of Stephanie to take an early 2-0 lead. The Baby Franks answered in the bottom half of the inning with four of their own including RBI singles from Amelia and Amanda after a leadoff triple from Geoff. Spring Creek battled back to tie it up in the third highlighted by Daphne's second run of her 4-4 night at the plate. It was the Baby Franks who finally broke through in the 5th with four runs led by Amanda and Geoff again and looked to hold on as the hour mark approached. That was when, in a stunning move only paralleled by the Rafael Devers trade in the MLB, the Baby Franks made the trade with the Hammerheads to lose their second baseman. Little did anyone know they had the city manager up their sleeves to fill those shoes just in time to hold onto the win by the score of 8-6.

At 7pm it was time for the newly imbittered rivals, fresh off the trade to do battle. The Hammerheads looked to hammer away at the Babies on the upper field as both teams went into their second games of the night. Hammering they did as they came away with four runs in the first led by a two run double off the bat of Emma. The Babies weren't soft though and took the blows and punched back with three runs in the bottom of the first, two coming off a single from Zeke. The Hammerheads managed one more run in the second, but Neil of the Baby Franks came on in a relief pitching a gem He quieted the bats of the Hammerheads while Zeke continued to roll in the RBIs for the Franks leading to a 11-5 win! The Franks now sit at 4-0-2 and in second place while the Heads drop to 1-4-1 in seventh.

Meanwhile on the lower field ILWU continued their domination as they took on the Hose Jockeys. The Hose Jockeys managed their only run of the game off an RBI single from Crystal in the first inning and were held at bay the rest of the game. The bats were somewhat quiet on the ILWU front, but they erupted for five runs in the bottom of the fourth after a leadoff double from Sol. ILWU went on to improve their first place record to 6-0-2 with a 9-1 victory over the Jockeys. The Jockeys remain in ninth with the loss sitting at 0-4-3.

The final games of the night kicked off at 8:15pm. On the lower field the careful, thoughtful insurers of Seward Insurance took on the wily, partyers of Seward Alehouse. Wreaking havoc throughout the night was Ryan G. of the Insurers who scored four runs on a 5-5 performance. In a true Ohtanian performance, Ryan G. also dealt a masterpiece on the mound painting the corners and holding the House of Ale to three runs in a 13-3 victory! He even one-upped  Shohei Ohtani on the same night he returned to the mound, by umping the game prior. Take that Shohei! On the other side, Ryan's former basketball teammate, also Ryan (AKA Pease), roped two triples, scoring one of the three runs in the losing effort for the Alehouse. Seward Insurance holds down the three spot in the league at 3-1-2, while the Alehouse falls to fifth at 2-2-3.

And on the upper field, a whole team ate their Wheaties before the start of the game! They must have eaten them on the water because fresh off the boats, the Mariners of Major Marine flexed their muscles on their way to a 26-1 victory. Cursing their parents' names as they walked off the field, it just wasn't Sunuvapitch's night as they were the unfortunate victims of the Mariners onslaught. Loomis scored the lone run for Sunuvapitch as Caleb pitched an ace-like performance for the Mariners. Major Marine leapfrogs the Alehouse into fourth place at 2-2-3 and Sunuvapitch stays in eighth at 0-3-3.

Did you make it all the way through? Congratulations! Free hot dog next game! NO, NO, just kidding! Standings below.
